A two-day workshop on "Nanotechnology and its Applications" was organized by the Egypt Biotechnology Information Center (EBIC) and Nakaa Scientific Foundation on June 26 to 27, 2013 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University.
Some 45 participants including undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers and staff members attended the workshop. Topics included the use of nanotechnology in biotechnology, drug delivery, stem cells, and food safety.
Wesam Tawfik President of Nakaa Nanotechnology Network (NNN) said that "Nanoparticles have novel properties and functions that differ markedly from those seen in the bulk scale. Nanotechnology has achieved the status as one of the critical research endeavors of the early 21st century, as scientists study the unique properties of atomic and molecular assemblages built at the nanometer scale."
